Our Experience on the JFK Dallas Tour

In just two hours, our guide Isaac completely flipped how we see Dallas! We’ve lived here for ages yet somehow passed by landmarks hundreds of times without ever realizing their significance. Isaac’s deep knowledge and enthusiasm brought the city to life in a way we never expected. We learned about Dallas’s rich history, from its cowboy roots to its evolution into a headquarters hotspot with underground and skyline tunnels crisscrossing the city center.

Dallas Development

And Dallas is still transforming! On the tour, we discovered the city is getting a massive urban park in 2025 — think mini Central Park — connecting the Katy Trail to the Perot Museum. It’s part of the North End development, and trust us, this is going to be a game-changer for the city. If you’re curious, check out the full proposal and be amazed!

That’s not all we learned either! Isaac gave us fascinating tidbits about Dallas architecture, old neighborhoods, and hidden gems that we’d completely missed. If you think you know Dallas, think again. With Fun Open Cruiser Tours guiding the way, you’ll see the city with new eyes!

Dallas Recommendations

This JFK Dallas Tour is also a great way to get top-of-the-line recommendations! Isaac hooked us up! He told us about activities and spots we already know, like live music joints in Deep Ellum and FREE Museum days in Dallas, but he also told us about a ton of stuff we didn’t know! For example, did you know there’s Goat Yoga Downtown every Saturday? And in that same spot, there’s also pickleball!

There’s so much to know, but we’ll leave it at this: if you want to discover the best speakeasy in Dallas, empanadas, pizzeria, affordable Michelin restaurants and more, book this tour!

The Curse of the Kennedys

Also book this tour if you want to go down a rabbit hole! We won’t spoil it for you, but we will share some of what the tour doesn’t cover. Dallas is steeped in JFK history, but there’s way more to the story than just that tragic day in 1963. Before the assassination, the city was buzzing! JFK originally visited to build rapport with the Dallas elites who were skeptical of his presidency. However, if you think his visit was only about politics, think again! Hay Escándalo! There were rumors of an affair between JFK and a Dallas socialite (there were a lot of affairs 👀).

But that’s just scratching the surface. Let’s dive deeper into the darker side of the Kennedy family’s legacy. Not one, not two, but three members of the family were involved in plane crashes. Tragically, two of those crashes resulted in the deaths of JFK’s older brother, Joe Jr., and his son, John F. Kennedy Jr., further darkening the family’s history. Meanwhile, Ted Kennedy Jr., JFK’s nephew, survived his crash but lost a leg in the process. And then there’s Rosemary Kennedy (JFK’s sister), who was secretly taken by their father to undergo a lobotomy without their mother’s knowledge. Whhhhhaaaat?! The procedure left her with permanent damage, adding yet another layer of tragedy and mystery to the story of the Kennedys.

The Rabbit Hole Goes Deep

So, when you visit Dealey Plaza, remember: JFK’s ties to this city are full of strange, powerful, and sometimes shocking lore. You probably won’t watch this hour-long video, but you should, because it’s absolutely fascinating! And if you do, let’s talk, because this ish goes deep! You never know — this tour might make you want to jump down the rabbit hole too!

P.S. Though we’re sure the 1-hour option is great, we highly recommend the 2-hour tour! It’s unusual for us to recommend the more expensive option (after all, we love a good time on a dime), but the 2-hour option covered sooooo much and made our entire week! This tour may be a bit more expensive than other tours out there, but in our opinion, it’s worth it!
