The Most Affordable & Amazing Dallas High Tea — Sip, Savor, and Save!

The Most Affordable & Amazing Dallas High Tea — Sip, Savor, and Save!

Wow! Wow! Wow! High tea in Dallas is not overhyped — au contraire! This Dallas High Tea was so fun, and it was only $28 per person! Initially, we hesitated to try high tea because, even though we love a good time, we prefer a Good Time on a Dime. Typically, afternoon tea in Dallas starts at $50 per person (if you’re lucky) and averages around $75 per person. So, when we saw $28 per person, it honestly felt almost unbelievable. But believe it! And, it was every bit as delightful as it sounds!

But that doesn’t answer the unspoken question, does it? Is this Dallas high tea worth its scones? Baby boo, yes! We verified it ourselves! So, raise those pinkies, because Here’s What’s Up Dallas!

Our Dallas High Tea Experience

We walked into Lavendou Bistro dressed, on time and ready to dine — and we had a blast! Everything from the vibe to the tea to the food was terrific! 😄

The Vibe: French, Cozy, and Social

The second we stepped inside, we felt like we’d stepped into a Parisian bistro. Exposed brick, a beautiful wood bar stocked with gorgeous bottles, and tables set so beautifully that you couldn’t help but feel just a little bit fancy.

And the crowd? A mix of everything.

  • A group of Aunties dressed to impress, having the absolute best time.
  • Smaller groups like us — some doing high tea, others just casually having lunch, because this place isn’t just a tea spot. It’s a legit French restaurant.
  • A massive 20–30 person party in the back, likely a bridal or baby shower (we weren’t about to interrupt their fabulousness to ask).

It wasn’t stuffy or pretentious. It was just right. Oh, and fun surprise — this spot is in a cool little complex across from a Filipino grocery and eatery. We popped in after tea, and next thing you know, Lexi’s being invited to sing live karaoke. Rest assured, we shall return, both to Lavendou and the charming shops around it.

The Tea: Snob-Approved & Unlimited

Twas’ divine. Listen, we take tea seriously. As in, we once threw a tea party with a 32-question trivia segment and a blind taste test where it was 10 party guests versus Lexi, our amateur tea master. We do not play around. So when we say this tea was delicious, we ain’t lyin. It was a black tea, rich, smooth, and full-bodied. We paused mid-sip and exchanged looks like, wait… this is actually great. And the tea was unlimited too. Bonus points!

The Food: Next-Level Desserts & French Cooking

Here’s the biggest win of this tea service: you’re not locked into a single menu.

  1. You get a traditional high tea set (with finger sandwiches, scones, and desserts).
  2. But you can also order off the regular menu — which is a total game-changer.

The sandwiches in the tea set (ham mousse, chicken salad, cucumber)? Fine. Good. Not life changing. But the desserts? Baby. Baby. BABY.

We’re talking European-quality scones and a fruit custard dessert that had us over the moon. We’re telling you, absolute standouts. Lavendou’s dessert game is elite.

Oh là là

Suddenly, we remembered how good French cooking is.

Like, how did they make their fries so frickin’ good?! Fries! A dish we ordered on a whim and eat all the time! And yet, magic. Literal French magic. Do you know when you’re at a restaurant and other people are looking over at your table, like, maybe I should order that? We were those people. I mean, everything looked and smelled so good.

Isn’t the foundation of French cooking technique? I think we read that once. Anyway, sounds legit.

But back to the point at hand — not everyone at your table has to order a tea set! We only ordered two sets ourselves and then a meal for the table. The little finger sandwiches were filling, don’t get us wrong, but in our hearts, we’re not dainty food people, so this full menu ordering option was quite enticing. It also helps because the tea set is not customizable (part of how they keep the cost low while still keeping the quality high).

So if you:

  • Don’t love cream-heavy foods (because yeah, high tea is dairy central)
  • Want more variety
  • Are a real-food person and need something heartier

…just do what we did: tea set + hot food. It’s the perfect balance.

Other Dallas High Tea Options

If you’re willing to pay over twice as much, you can check out:

  • The French Room at The Adolphus Hotel – A luxurious afternoon tea experience, but at $75+ per person, it’s a special-occasion kind of thing. That said, from what we’ve heard, it’s an absolutely stunning ambiance!
  • Hotel Crescent Court – Elegant and sophisticated, this is the tea party dreams are made of — but again, expect to pay for the experience. As of April 2025, we’re looking at $65 per adult (and $35 per child) plus fees and tax. And this tea only happens in the spring!
  • Hotel Swexan – Are you sensing a theme? Pick a fancy hotel and see if they have high tea. Afternoon Tea at Hôtel Swexan is a ticketed affair, priced at $85 per guest and $35 for children 12 & under, plus tax and gratuity.
  • Dallas Arboretum – Now we’re getting creative! They have a Dallas afternoon tea option for literally every season. Check it out! And each option hovers around $65 per person. Pssst. If you like the Arboretum but are looking for a deal, read our post where we list Dallas Arboretum Discounts.

Our Recommendation

If you’re looking for affordable high tea that won’t drain your wallet but still feels luxe, Lavendou is the move. The tea is excellent, the food is delicious (especially the desserts), and the ambiance is a tiny European daydream. Plus, at $28 per person, it’s easily the best value in town.
