Are you a dog person or a cat person? Personally, we’re dog people who have learned to love cats. And when we say learned, we mean indoctrinated — by fate, by fluff, by five tiny furballs meowing from under a shed. But before we get into that, let’s get into the fact there are not one, not two, not even three, but four cat cafés in DFW, and one of them is 10 minutes from White Rock Lake! Can you spell Dallas Cat Café? Put it on your calendar and invite your friends!

Our Experience: From Accidental Cat Parents to Cat Café Enthusiasts
Let’s rewind to Fall. That’s when we found a litter of newborn kittens. Not metaphorically. Literally under our work shed. Tiny, helpless, and crying their little hearts out. We didn’t know the first thing about cat care, but our Google searches went from “how to keep kittens alive” to “how to domesticate cats” real quick. And when we researched further, we discovered that the average lifespan of a stray cat is just two years — but with love and care, they often live 15 to 20 years longer.

And so, we were in it, whether we liked it or not!
The Learning Curve
Taking care of five kittens with zero experience was… interesting to say the least. But it was beautiful. We named them Biscuit, Midnight, Fury, Dominoe, and Zara. First we fed them. Later came the baths. Then there was lots and lots of cuddling. We fell hard!

Dominoe, the fluffiest cat with a huge personality and appetite, stole our hearts completely. We kept him, and we found amazing homes for his four brothers and sisters. Trust us, those cats are living well! (no exaggeration at all — the new pet parents sent us photos and videos, and we are still getting updates to this day!).
And just like that, we became bona fide Cat People. Not instead of Dog People — in addition to. Which brings us to our newest obsession: cat cafés.
Not Our First Rodeo

We actually discovered cat cafés for the first time while traveling in Korea — because of course we did. Asia does quirky and animal-themed better than just about anywhere else. By chance, we stumbled into a late night cat café, and the next thing we knew, we were sipping iced tea with cats lounging across our laps like we were their humans all along.

That was our first introduction to the concept, and it completely charmed us. Ever since then, we’ve kept an eye out for cat cafés wherever we go. That’s why we were so excited to find out that Dallas has several worth visiting!

One of our most recent stops? The Charming Cat Corner. It was quiet, cozy, and somehow personal. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by a long-haired beauty perched like royalty on a side counter. Excited to hang out, we wandered through the different rooms, each one filled with cats of all ages, personalities, and sass levels.

Some curled up in beds, some zoomed past us in full play mode, and some just wanted to sit in our laps and purr. The staff was warm and clearly loved the animals, and we left with our hearts full (and our camera rolls even fuller). In short, it was great and you should visit a Dallas cat café too!
Basic Information: Where to Get Your Dallas Cat Café Fix
Whether you’re curious about cats, trying to convince your dog-obsessed partner to warm up to felines, or just need a serotonin boost, Dallas cat cafés are the perfect vibe. Here are a few gems you should check out:
Whiskers and Soda

📍 10320 Garland Rd, Dallas, TX 75218

This cat café in Dallas is part cat lounge, part coffee shop, and part mood lifter. You can grab a Meow Matcha, settle into a cozy chair, and let a cat named Whiskers fall asleep in your lap. It’s spacious, relaxing, and one of the best places to test-drive cat companionship.
The Charming Cat Corner

📍 Music City Mall, 2401 S Stemmons Fwy, Lewisville, TX 75067

Located inside a half-empty mall (yes, you read that right), this one surprised us. It’s a sanctuary-meets-hangout spot. They focus heavily on adoption, so if you’re even thinking about getting a cat, go here. Every cat is adoptable and lovingly cared for. And don’t be surprised if one follows you around like a shadow — some of these cats choose you.
The Cozy Catfé
Purrfect Visit Pending
📍 740 SW Green Oaks Blvd #200, Arlington TX 76017
As the name suggests, this cozy cat café leans into chill. Rumored to be a calm space where cats can happily nap and humans can just be, you’ll find a mix of friendly, adoptable cats and plenty of nooks to settle in with a drink and a book — or just a cat.
The Casual Cat Café
Paw-sibly the Next Purrfect Spot
📍 7264 Glenview Dr, Richland Hills TX 76180
Low-key, homey, and full of personality, we’ve heard that The Casual Cat Café has a welcoming vibe that lives up to its name. Expect lots of playful cats, chill seating, and a staff who clearly love what they do. Perfect for a laid-back afternoon or a spontaneous visit.
Dallas Cat Café Pro-Tips:

😺 Don’t force it: Let the cats come to you. They know what they’re doing.
🐾 Go early for energy: Cats are most playful before 5PM. After that, it’s nap o’clock.
☕ Reserve ahead: Especially at Whiskers and Soda. Walk-ins are limited, and weekend slots go fast.

Note: To reserve, you need a membership. You can purchase one here for just $5 a month!
What to Expect
The first time you walk into a cat café, you might feel awkward. You might wonder, am I supposed to just… sit here while cats ignore me? Yes. Yes, you should. But give it five minutes. Because right after you settle in, the cats start to emerge. One curls up beside you. Another flops onto your notebook. You make eye contact with a chunky tabby from across the room and so the story goes. You can also take the initiative and sidle up to the cat of your choosing, but just go slow 🙂
If you do it right, it’s relaxing, wholesome and therapeutic.

Most cat cafés have rules — take off your shoes, no chasing, don’t pick up cats unless they initiate — but they’re designed to make sure both you and the cats have a good time. Sessions usually last 30–60 minutes, and some even include drinks or treats.
Remember: Cats naturally get sleepy around 5pm, so if you expecting energetic kitties in the evening, adjust your expectations. Also, walk-ins (specifically for Whiskers and Soda) are risky, so consider a membership so you can reserve a guaranteed time slot.
Why Cat Cafés Are Awesome (Even If You’re a Dog Person)
We’ve learned that cat cafés are safe spaces — for cats and humans alike. Most of the cats you meet are rescues. Many have been through rough beginnings, just like the kittens we found.
Hopefully, there’s a cat café nearby where you can sip your iced chai, have a cat crawl into your tote bag, and feel your stress melt away. Even if adoption isn’t in the cards, you still leave lighter. There’s something magical about sitting in a room full of cats doing their own thing. The inbox fades. The phone stays tucked away. For a little while, you just… exist. Surrounded by purring.
