SUBSCRIBE AND SAVE

We’re starting crazy strong with our ultimate tip to scoring discounts in Dallas and DFW. This one is going to be annoying, and you might not like it. BUT, it is an absolute game changer! We promise it will give you amazing results that you can’t argue with, and we’re not just building this up (I mean we are, because we’re trying to convince you, but we’re super serious! This tip is everything!). Our #1 tip to find Dallas discounts and DFW deals is to subscribe to everything.

If there is something that you’re interested in, and there is a subscribe option, subscribe. Wait! Before you slam the keyboard and close your laptop, hear us out. The best deals are given to people who subscribe to see them. Not all deals are widely advertised, especially the ones that create huge savings. Let us give you an example.

Meow Wolf

Have you ever heard of Meow Wolf? It’s an interactive art experience blending elements of fantasy, science fiction and mystery. Sounds fantastic, right? Except it’s usually $50 per person plus tax.

So, even though I (Autumn, the one who really likes to go out) was hyped to check out Meow Wolf, I knew I couldn’t go immediately. Fifty bucks is my weekly fun budget, and I’m social. Sometimes (okay, most times), I like to go out multiple times per week.

When Meow Wolf opened in Grapevine, I was not there for its grand reveal. 🙁 But don’t cry for me Argentina, because I signed up for their newsletter and do you know what I eventually  found? A discount in Dallas!

dallas deals

That’s right!! A two for three deal, bringing down a $55 per person price tag to just $36 per person. Wowza! Bet your bottom dollar I was there that week with five other friends, a deal so good, I had to use it twice.

Now you might be thinking, that sounds good and all, but I don’t want a bunch of emails. We get it. Neither do we. That’s why we’re so happy Gmail automatically sorts promotional emails into a different inbox. So, all we do is check our promotions occasionally, and badabing badaboom, all the DFW and Dallas deals a person could want.

Discounts Worth the Effort

If you’re still hesitant, create a separate email. A bit of a pain, we know, but then you can have an entire email dedicated to finding cheap things to do in Dallas and beyond. We only check our promotions when we’re bored or have a free week, but when we do, we’re often pleasantly surprised.

It’s like having a coupon section for the city on your computer. And there’s no lag. You don’t have to wait for someone to post about the deal because you’ll know the week it comes out. And all the birthday freebies? Chef’s kiss – Mwah! We’re telling you, you gotta try it.

GROUPON

Discounts in Dallas

Are we the only ones who love a good Groupon? Not even possible! I remember going to Studio Movie Grill for just $5 per person every summer when our cousins visited. With Groupons in hands and smiles on our faces, we’d go to the movie and split a meal. Great memories!

Did you know that big companies like Costco use Groupon too? Well they do, especially for recently opened stores! And it’s awesome! If you don’t already know, Groupon is a site that offers discounts on local products and services.

We won’t bore you with all of the deals we’ve taken advantage of using Groupon, but trust us, it’s a lot!

One time, we planned an entire trip to New York using Groupon. We rode bikes in Central Park (Wow! That place is big!) and went trapezing at a circus academy (literally the most fun and memorable thing ever). We also did some amazing tours, shows and classes. Long story short, it’s totally a hack.

Yeah, yeah, you say. That’s great. But New York is far. What about the discounts in Dallas? Okay, 1: Groupon is everywhere and great for any big city (and sometimes even small cities)! And 2: Groupon is always updating which means there are new deals every month, and often every week. In other words, there are tons of deals in Dallas and DFW if you know how to search.

How To Search

That said, the search function on Groupon can be a bit tricky, which is why we recommend browsing Things to Do in Dallas, TX. Just set your location and choose the type of thing you’re looking to do. It’s that easy. BUT if you want to take it a step farther like us, you can look for a specific thing to do in DFW and find deals that way.

What are your hobbies? Do you have anything you want to try? Pottery? Crocheting? Woodworking? Paintball? Mexican Food? Search for it on Groupon and see what comes up! That’s how we found our belly dance studio in Plano! After watching a performance at Holi festival, and thinking, man, that looks fun, we just popped belly dancing into Groupon’s search bar, and boom! We struck gold!

MEETUP

Discounts in Dallas

This one is super fun! It doesn’t offer discounts on consumer goods, but it does provide a ton of discounted things to do in DFW. Meetup is a platform that connects people with common interests by allowing users to easily organize and attend local events. And because these events are organized by individuals as opposed to corporations, a lot of the activities on Meetup are free or very close to free. That’s awesome beans!

Free Meetups that we regularly see and sometimes attend include Dallas socials, DFW hikes, local board game nights and language learning groups. There are so many options, you’ll be spoiled for choice. One thing though! The website’s search function doesn’t always show every applicable result. The same thing goes for sorting by category. Perhaps not every organizer is tagging correctly? Either way, unless you’re looking for something very specific (Ex: Pickup soccer) we think it’s better to just browse the events and groups near you.

Events and Groups

Notice we said “Events” AND “Groups.” That’s because there are two separate search modes. So if you’re only looking for cheap things to do in Dallas and DFW, search events. However, if you want to find a community—or are looking for something that requires regular meetings (Ex: Writers Critique Group)—search groups. Simple enough, right?! Meetup will have you joining book clubs and drinking wine with strangers on a Tuesday. And honestly, we don’t think that’s a bad thing.

If you’re lucky, you might make a new friend in the process, all while your wallet thanks you. You’ll be surprised by how quickly your calendar fills up with events, especially since you’ll probably be invited to activities outside of your meetup group.

For example, I (Autumn again) found my old writer’s group on Meetup and ended up going to a renaissance fair with them. Cool, right? I made lots of friends (many of which I still have), became a better writer and had a place to go every single week, all for Free 99! Don’t knock it until you try it! Meetup could easily become the top tool you use for finding those Dallas Discounts that make your heart (and wallet, never forget your wallet) happy.

EVENTBRITE

Daily deals dallas

Like Meetup, Eventbrite focuses on activities rather than consumer goods, offering plenty of Dallas discounts focused on experiences. We don’t know why, but many events on Eventbrite are cheap or free. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve downloaded a ticket for an event at no cost. Many organizers seem to use Eventbrite more as a marketing platform than as a sales tool. We’ve found parties, low-cost concerts, free expos, and more on Eventbrite.

One of our more notable finds is the Holi Festival. You can read our post about this wonderful annual Dallas event by clicking here. Our tickets cost roughly $12 each, and it was 1000% worth it. We don’t think we’ve ever spent more than $30 on an Eventbrite ticket, yet we’ve attended numerous events, indicating there are a ton of deals on Eventbrite. At least that’s been our experience.

In short, Eventbrite is a great place to find affordable things to do in Dallas. After using it a few times and subscribing for free, Eventbrite will start sending you emails with events that match your interests. Personally, we love this feature because the algorithm does a great job of recommending events we enjoy. So, if you’re looking for fun, unique, budget-friendly events that you’ll remember, try Eventbrite!

Tags and Categories

One thing to know about the website is that it’s well-organized with a good search function. Whether you know what you’re looking for or not, you’ll likely find something that interests you. And for that, you can thank the tagging system and category options, which are are excellent. Take a look!

Tags you might want to click:

Categories you might want to explore:

See? Eventbrite makes browsing and searching easy, and while we can’t say what you’ll find, you’ll probably discover an event you really appreciate. We literally just went on the site and found a book signing with an author we like. That’s what we’re talking about! Use Eventbrite to find memorable experiences you never knew existed! Just give it a try! You might find the perfect event for you without spending a single penny!
